Crooked Relations
A downloadable game
Crooked Relations is a solo journalling and photo game about investigating a crime. It is very location specific in that play engages with the environment (and sometimes people) around you. Inspired by closed door mysteries, agatha christie novels and movies like knives out, Crooked Relations play starts with the receipt of a letter, which outlines the crime at hand and the suspects involved. It is designed to be modular - a new letter will result is entirely different play - and while there are 2 starter letters included in the game files, everyone is encourage to write their own for their games, or to give to others!
The game is layed out as a half page, double sided folded zine that is meant to be carried in a pocket and contains places to take notes and make observations. For the unformatted text of the game, go here.
Crooked Relations is a hack of my first photo journalling game, Frame352, about tracking cryptids, and uses the same central mechanic of pulling coins as prompts.
(If you would like to make a hack of either of these games, please do!)
